There are a lot of languages that can be used in opera: Italian, German, French, English, Russian, Czech, Spanish…and the list is growing every day.

Over the past two centuries, Beijing opera, or Peking opera, has been a major form of Chinese entertainment.

It is not uncommon for opera to be sung in foreign languages, particularly Italian. In addition, German, French, and Russian are popular. These were the nationalities of some of the most famous classical composers (music) and librettists (words) who produced these operas, which were written in their native tongues.
